Conference Introduction: Bioregional Regeneration as Collapse Resilience
r3.0 Managing Director Ralph Thurm and Senior Director Bill Baue set the context for the Conference by laying out how Bioregional Regeneration serves as Collapse Resilience. They enumerate the Collapse Response Continuum that r3.0 shared in our Seeds Volume 2 paper, as a foundation for sharing the more detailed definition of Collapse Resilience. Ralph & Bill also introduce the overall Conference Agenda & structure, as well as engagement guidance and other logistical details. – Living Resource Document

Conference Panel Session One: Relational Kinship
In her work on Relational Systems Thinking, Melanie Goodchild discusses the Haudenosaunee Two-Row Wampum Belt as representing the “the sacred space between Indigenous and non-Indigenous ways of thinking and knowing, to identify pathways for peaceful co-existence of epistemologies” – which she later expands to encompass the “internal pluralism” that exists “between all the humans, the non-humans, the unborn generations and our Earth Mother.” We consider this relationality foundational to bioregioning (and fundamental to the Convening pollinator in r3.0’s garden of bioregioning work). This session focuses on Relational Kinship between and amongst bioregional groups & practitioners, Indigenous communities, and the more-than-human world. – Living Resource Document

Embodied Integration
Embodied Integration is breath and body time; sensory time to feel and trust in your body wisdom as essential nature. Essential to emotional health, wise action orientation, peaceful intelligence. As well as releasing the tensions of information gathering, holding close the embers of inspiration and the warmth of togetherness, for true resilience.

Break
In response to popular demand from the Confluencing Community, this year’s Conference integrates long breaks for Confluences to focus attention on their own bioregional contexts, curating their own activities and explorations.

Confluence Reflections Session One
The Confluence Reflections Session enable Confluences to share their perspectives on 3 fronts:
- first, their responses to the content in the Introduction & Panel Sessions each day:
- second, developments from their Confluences, in their own bioregional contexts; and
- third, cross-pollination of ideas amongst the Confluences that span 6 continents.

Day Two Introduction (Part 1): Global Bioregional Month
The r3.0 Conference is not isolated, but rather embedded in the broader context of a handful of other large-scale bioregional convenings coinciding in the same month – prompting members of the Bioregional Coherence Circle (that r3.0 facilitates as preliminary steward) to propose September 2026 as Global Bioregional Month. This session features representatives of four other major bioregional events – the Turtle Island Bioregional Congress, the Design School for Regenerating Earth’s Mediterranean Bioregional Activation, a cluster of events in Australia, and an event in Sri Lanka gathering bioregionalists from across South Asia – briefly sharing on their events to help conceptualize the truly planetary scale of the bioregional movement we’re weaving together. – Living Resource Document

Conference Panel Session Two: Bioregional Knowledge Commons
Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) have supported bioregional relationality (“between all the humans, the non-humans, the unborn generations and our Earth Mother,” as Melanie Goodchild writes in Relational Systems Thinking) since the dawn of time — and continue to do so to this day.
Knowledge sovereignty — a foundational tenet of IKS — also underpins Bioregional Knowledge Commons (BKC), which both pool and propagate shared understandings of the practices and protocols for collectively stewarding bioregional territories and cultures.
This Panel Session focuses on Bioregional Knowledge Commons (the 2nd pollinator in r3.0’s garden of bioregioning work), exploring their dimensions both in digital repositories with layered accessibility, and in the collective consciousness of bioregional knowledge holders, shared orally via storytelling and somatically via embodied experience — as has been done for millennia. – Living Resource Document

Conference Panel Session Three: Bioregional Relational Governance
Bioregional governance encompasses relational interconnection between & amongst territorial landscapes (mountains, rivers, forests, etc), inhabitant species (birds, flowers, fungi, etc), and multicultural lifeways (Indigenous traditional knowledge, ecological literacies, social networking, etc) contextualized to specific places. Bioregional Relational Governance thus entails not mechanistic controlling processes & outcomes, but rather adopting protocols for sensing & adapting to emergent living patterns.
To support broad understanding of the diversity (and pluriversality) of Bioregional Relational Governance, this 3rd Panel Session features presenters sharing bioregional governance principles and practices specific to their four distinct bioregional contexts across geographies globally. – Living Resource Document
